"PERINGER"
The product "SHRUNKEN CALF" from the only tanner in Germany specializing in chrome tanning and calf hides (called kip in Japan).
They are particular about everything from selecting the raw hides, even down to what the cows eat. In the tanning process, they do things that other tanners don't, such as aging the leather for a while after tanning to keep the pH level inside the leather constant.

It is characterized by a soft texture, a plump appearance, and unevenness (shibo). As it is shrink leather, the leather is shrunk using chemicals.
Compared to regular smooth leather, the leather shrinks by approximately 20-30%, which increases the unit price. However, this soft and plump material feel is a unique charm not found in other leathers, and its value is greatly appreciated in the finished product.

Because it is chrome-tanned, it is highly resistant to friction and dirt, and it also features a unique color-fastening process, making it resistant to color fading.
